Privacy policy
This page explains what SightPanel (“we”, “us”) collects on sightpanel.com, why, who handles it for us, and what you can ask us to do with it. Short version: we collect your work email and a few optional answers so we can tell you when SightPanel is ready. We don’t sell it.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist
- Your email address (required).
- Optional answers from the second step: the plan you’re interested in, your role, and the protocols your devices use.
-
How you found us: the campaign tags in the link you arrived on (
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_content,utm_term) and the referring page, if your browser sends one. This tells us which ad or post brought you. - The date and time you signed up.
When you just visit
- Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser user agent, page requested, time) to run and protect the site.
- The page keeps the campaign tags in your browser’s session storage so they survive a reload. It is cleared when you close the tab and is never sent anywhere unless you sign up.
- Your cookie choice (accepted or declined, and when), kept in your browser’s local storage.
- Advertising tags — if you allow them. See Advertising and conversion tracking.
Why we use it
- To email you about SightPanel: early access to the demo, launch news and founding pricing. (Legal basis: your consent, given when you sign up.)
- To understand which plans and protocols matter to people, so we build the right thing. (Our legitimate interest in developing the product.)
- To measure which ads and channels work, so we spend less on the ones that don’t. (Your consent, where tracking tags are involved; otherwise our legitimate interest.)
- To keep the site running and secure. (Our legitimate interest.)
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t use it to make automated decisions about you.
Advertising and conversion tracking
We may advertise SightPanel on Google, LinkedIn, Reddit and Meta (Facebook / Instagram). To find out whether an ad led to a signup, we may use those platforms’ tracking tags: Google tag (Google Ads / Analytics), LinkedIn Insight Tag, Reddit Pixel and Meta Pixel. When active, a tag can set cookies or similar identifiers and send the platform information such as the page you visited, your IP address, browser details and the fact that you signed up. The platform may combine this with what it already knows about you, under its own privacy policy.
These tags load only after you click Accept in our cookie banner; until then, and if you click Decline, none of them is loaded. We remember your choice in your browser’s local storage for 12 months, then ask again. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; if you withdraw consent, we remove the cookies these tags set on our domain and reload the page without them. You can also manage ad preferences directly with each platform:
- Google: how Google uses information from sites · Google ad settings
- LinkedIn privacy policy · LinkedIn ad settings
- Reddit privacy policy · Reddit privacy settings
- Meta privacy policy · Meta ad preferences
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal: advertising tags stay off and we don’t ask.
Who handles your data for us
We use a small number of service providers, who process the data only on our instructions:
- Netlify or Cloudflare — hosts the site and stores waitlist form submissions.
- Supabase — database for waitlist signups, if we use it instead of Netlify Forms.
- Our email provider — to send you updates.
- The advertising platforms above — only if you accept tracking tags.
Some of these providers are in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, it is protected by the provider’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a buyer if SightPanel is sold — in which case this policy keeps applying to your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we stop the waitlist, whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email on a suppression list so we never email you again. Server logs are kept by our host for a short period, typically 30 days or less.
Your rights and choices
- Unsubscribe using the link in any email, or by emailing us.
- Access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to or restrict how we use it. Email us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent to emails or tracking tags at any time; this doesn’t affect what we did before.
- California residents: you have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. Declining tracking tags, or sending a Global Privacy Control signal, opts you out. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
- UK and EEA residents can also complain to their data protection authority, though we’d appreciate the chance to fix it first.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, the signup database accepts inserts but not public reads, and only we can see the list. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect small for exactly that reason.
Children
SightPanel is a tool for industrial professionals. The site isn’t aimed at anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use data you’ve already given us, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
